"Doing Business in Emerging Markets – Challenges and Opportunities "

In the series of International Webinars conducted by Centre for Distance and Online Education,  International webinar  on “Doing Business in Emerging Markets – Challenges and Opportunities “ was organized by CDOE on 10th September 2022 for  BBA, MBA, BCOM, MCOM , BA ECO. students.  The Speaker for the session was “Dr. Arijit Sikdar, Associate Professor- International Business and strategy and Director UG Programs, University of Wollongong , Dubai . He is also Associate Dean Education at UOWD UAE. He has been associated with the University for the last 15 years in the Faculty of Business.

Around 55 students of CDOE have joined the session.

 

Dr Arijit Sikdar appraised students about the challenges that were faced predominantly by Asian countries and those were overwhelming in nature. He focused on the principal challenge where Governance and politics  are intertwined with Business. He said – Political environment is retribution driven. One needs to rightfully select the local partner who can navigate the political minefield. The legal system is inefficient to protect interests and hence move for international arbitrations. MNCs are bringing older generation products to emerging markets – so patent laws need to be strengthened. He also spoke at length about the opportunities existing for emerging markets.

The session concluded with a multitude of questions from students and faculty. The session was very interactive and students have demanded for such enthusiastic sessions in the future also. The Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Soma and complete CDOE Team.
