Expert Talk on “Changing Landscape on Healthcare Management” – Centre for Distance and Online Education

In the series of International Expert talks organized by “Centre for Distance and Online Education ”, an International talk on “Changing Landscape of Healthcare Marketing” was organized by MRCDOE on 03 September 2022, for all BBA and MBA students. The resource person for the session was Prof. Sudhir Rana, and Program Director at the College of Healthcare Management & Economics, Gulf Medical University, UAE. He holds a PhD degree from India and Post-doctorate from Putra Business School (AACSB Accredited), University of Putra, Malaysia. Dr. Rana has been associated with Fortune Institute of International Business, India and Maastricht School of Management, Kuwait. He is adjunct professor and program chair for DBA and Post Doctorate with Paris School of Business France for MENA region. He supervises scholars and delivers courses in Paris School of Business (Tripple crown accredited), France; University of Adger, Norway; Indian Institute of Management – Nagpur, India amongst others.

During the session, Dr. Sudhir Rana discussed the challenges faced by the healthcare sector in government and private hospitals in particular while marketing their wares.  He started the discussion by asking students about basic concepts in marketing and connecting to the consumer. He focused on the differentiation of Health Marketing and Healthcare marketing. Students have actively participated in the discussion and targeted “Business for marketing various healthcare services”. Good debate has taken place on this topic. Very pertinent questions raised by students were in the domain of jobs related to the healthcare industry. MBA healthcare management students  debated upon these opportunities available today for young budding managers and also talked about the Job opportunities available in the area of – Hospital facility management, staffing, Operations management, Medical tourism and marketing of healthcare services which are very lucrative and promising.

With the promise of a great career ahead, Dr Sudhir Rana ended the discussion. A vote of thanks was proposed by the CDOE Team members. CDOE team was thankful to all the participants and the faculty members and promised to organize more enthusiastic events in near future.
