About This Course

The Human Cognition course examines the study of higher mental processes like memory, intelligence, perception, attention, language etc., that determines human behaviour and cognitive abilities. Those interested in learning about how these mental processes work in our brain and further help us in our daily functioning of mental tasks and activities, must enrol in this course.

This section will orient the learners' to the field of cognitive psychology and its emergence.

Brain Neuroimaging Techniques

This section will briefly describe the different types of neuroimaging techniques like MRI, fMRI, CT scan, PET scan, MEG, EEG.

Human Perception

In this section, the students will learn about perceptual processes in our day-to-day lives, the difference between illusions and reality, Gestalt laws of organization, and the theories of perception i.e. bottom-up and top-down approaches.


This section elucidates attention, consciousness, functions of attention, selective attention, and divided attention, saccadic eye movement, and the theories of attention.


This module elucidates the types of memory, Encoding, Storage, and Retrieval stages of memory, and theories of memory.
