About This Course

The course is designed in such a way that it caters to students from all walks of life to gain requisite knowledge of the statistical tools and techniques. The course introduces to the learners basic to advanced concepts starting from data collection, representation, analysis and interpretation. The learner can expect a through understanding of the various methods of analysing the data helpful in taking business decisions.

Statistical Methods – 1

This topics tells us about the ways statistical investigation can be conducted. The two primary methods of statistical inquiry is descriptive and inferential analysis

Statistical Methods – II

Data Classification and Tabulation

This topic enables learner to know various ways to classify the data. It deliberates on techniques for tabulating the data after the collection of raw data 

Graphical Representation of Data

This topic will equip the learner to present the data in form of graphs, charts and diagrams. The diagrammatic representation of data helps the user visualise the data and facilitates comparison. 

Frequency Distribution: Discrete and Continuous distribution

This topic will enable the learner to attain knowledge on how to construct frequency distribution tables from the raw data collected. 

Measures of Central Tendency

The topic gives an understanding of various methods to compute central value. Following are the methods discussed in the lesson to compute the average:- Mean Median Mode The averages will be calculated on individual, discrete and continuous series.

Measures of Dispersion

The topic will include concepts related to variation of data. The Learner will gain insight on various methods of measuring variation of data: Range Quartile Deviation Mean Deviation Standard Deviation

Skewness, Moments and Kurtosis

Introduction to Correlation Analysis

The topic builds the theoretical understanding of the learner about the meaning of the correlation and the various types of correlation. The lesson would include primarily three types of correlation Positive and Negative Correlation Single, Multiple and Partial Correlation Linear and Non Linear Correlation 

Correlation Analysis: Methods

The topics includes numerical aspect of correlation in which learner would be given hands on knowledge of various methods to compute correlation. The basic methods would comprise of: Scatter Diagram Graphic Method Karl Pearson Coefficient of Correlation Spearsman Rank Correlation Method Concurrent Deviation Method Least Squares Method 

Regression Analysis

The topic on Regression Analysis would enable the learner to gain through understanding of various concepts related to regression analysis like deriving regression equations, drawing regression lines, computing regression coefficients and the standard error. 

Time Series

The topic would include a detailed discussion on the concept of time series i.e. how the historical data can be used to estimate values for the future. The lesson focuses on building the learners understanding on the components of Time Series and the methods to determine the trend.  Following are the methods covered in the lesson to estimate the time series Freehand method/Graphical method Semi-average method Moving average method Method of Least Squares
