About This Course

This course will help students in understanding the basic concepts, tool, techniques, theories and principles of economics. It helps students to examine the role economic factors can play in influencing business and government decision making process.  This course serves as an introduction to economics. It provides a platform for further studies in economics, business studies, commerce, administration and management. After completing the course students will be able to develop a better understanding of business problems and role in decision making. They will also be able in examining various business strategies (costing, pricing and competitive) at firm level and analysisn the role of government intervention in stabilizing the economy.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, a student should be able to:
1. Develop a better understanding of business problems and role in decision making.
2. Examine various business strategies (costing, pricing and competitive) at firm level.
3. Analyze how households (demand) and businesses (supply) interact in various market structures to determine price and quantity of goods and services produced and consumed.
4. Examine the role of government intervention in stabilizing the economy.
